ABOUT

Jill Marshall
Committed to Creative Excellence

A life-long storyteller and learner, I've had a fascinating portfolio career which began in Human Resources and segued into Learning and Development. In training, I've managed a division of 300 trainers delivering L&D for a multi-national telecomms company (now Virgin Media), before helping thousands of writers create and finesse their novels and even their successful author careers.

In communications, I work with a number of national and global NGOs, not-for-profits and for-purpose organisations to help them create, improve and share their message, raise their profile and do more good in the world. This matters to me. A lot. I partner with designers and visual media specialists to bring stories to life in the most effective way, according to the organisation's vision and goals (and yes, that includes the UN's Sustainable Development Goals). As both strategist and implementer, I help facilitate change and growth.

As a writer, I'm the author of the best-selling series about Sensational Spylet, Jane Blonde, and many other books for teenies, tweens and teens, YA and OldA. I've had 15 books published by major publishers Macmillan, Hachette and Penguin, in 11 languages and 22 countries. I've established my own indie publishing house, Jill Marshall Books, to house all my titles (two dozen books and still growing) under one virtual roof and to reach readers in varied, sustainable, planet-friendly ways.

Originating from Manchester, UK, I've lived and worked around the world and divide my time between UK and NZ. I'm a genuine global citizen with a broad world view, coupled with a fairly Manc no-nonsense approach, love of a good laugh and a reputation for getting the job done.

Educated at Cambridge and Winchester Universities, I have Masters' degrees in History and in Creative Writing, and an ABT (All But the Thesis) version of an MBA from Nottingham Trent. (Life took over; you know THAT story.)
